Workshop Description:
What are the best ways and skills needed to read poetry aloud to people that have come to be inspired and entertained by your reading? In this workshop we will summarize learnings regarding the effective use of your voice; dealing with nerves; use of microphone, papers, podium, etc.; audience contact; and how to transform a reading into a presentation.

Most of the workshop will be spent on techniques and exercises of developing your poetry reading skill, reading your own poetry, and using more feeling/emotion in your presentations.. Experienced poetry readers as well as novices can improve their reading skills through this workshop and become polished poetry readers.

About James C. Collins
James (Jamie) C. Collins, a poet, teacher, writer of plays, books and musicals will facilitate the workshop. Jamie has a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Florida and has taught in the school systems of Tampa and St Petersburg, Florida. He wrote a non-violent curriculum for schools in North Carolina, has served as a copywriter in print/audio advertising, and since living in Nashville he has written five books for children.
