“Local Color: A Sense of Place is a romantic look at the picturesque landscapes across Tennessee inspired by American painters of the 19th and mid-20th centuries. These refuges are owned by “we the people” and are my sanctuary. Places I experience my true connection with nature and my complete dependence on its existence. Where I can hear the voice of a higher power in the echoes of thunder rolling through a valley, and feel the passing of their hand in the sunlight wandering across a field. The value of these places are beyond priceless and we must continue to preserve them for future generations.”

Richard Barrow is a self taught photographic artist based in Nashville Tenn. In 2012, After three decades in the music industry as a recording engineer for artists including Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, and Josh Turner, he turned to his passion for photography as an art form utilizing nature and landscape images as metaphors to tell poetic and emotional stories of the natural cycles of life. His landscape and travel photography has appeared in publications including Lifestyles Magazine, USA Today, US News & World Report, and The Tennessean.
