Join fellow poetry enthusiasts for a monthly reading by a featured local poet.

Free and open to the public.

Joseph Powell is a writer and spoken-word artist and the author of The Spirit of Baldwin Compels Me, released in the fall of 2018. His other books include Poetry Man and The Writing’s On The Wall. He was a featured poet in the Emmy-nominated National Geographic documentary, Skin.

He has performed at the Austin International Poetry Festival, the Tucson Festival of Books and most recently, the African Street Festival. His work has been published in Vox Poetica, WORDPEACE, Calliope, among other journals. He lives outside of Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, Cindi and his dog, Hendrix.
