Gordon Hester has worked as an artist, visualizing and developing ideas in landscape, still life, portrait, figurative and abstract paintings for over thirty years. Beauty in color and form found in my subject is inspirational to me and fuels my desire as an artist. I place paramount importance in the study of the structure and composition of those subjects as well as communicating the emotional relationship that develops between myself and the painting. Achieving a kinship between realism and abstraction with multi-layered surfaces is a primary goal for each painting.

Almeda “Meda” Hester as a child and young adult spent much time in the woods and there learned to appreciate nature. To this day things that I choose to draw are based on those early experiences. Throughout my marriage I have been exposed to art and painting through the work of my husband. A few years ago I decided to pursue art myself. My direction has been influenced through sound and fundamental teaching in classes in which I have participated. I am now encouraged to pursue more complex artistic challenges as I continue on this journey.
