10.12.19 – Reading Poetry with Grace and Power

Event: Reading Poetry with Grace and Power
Date/Time: October 12, 2019 9:30-noon
Location: 2nd Floor Fondren Hall
Cost: $30

Poetry is not just words, but meaning, intent and the ‘sound’ of the words. You are invited to a safe place to improve and enhance your skills in reading your poetry. How best to deliver your words can be learned. So whether a beginner or a pro, come learn the best use of your voice, and see how your poetry improves.

James (Jamie) C. Collins, a poet, teacher, writer of plays, books and musicals will facilitate the workshop. Jamie has a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Florida and has taught in the school systems of Tampa and St Petersburg, Florida. He wrote a non-violent curriculum for schools in North Carolina, has served as a copywriter in print/audio advertising, and since living in Nashville he has written five books for children. He is a regular reader in Poet’s Corner at Scarritt Bennett Center.
