During the Seasons of Advent and Christmas “Stations of the Nativity” by Suzy and Curtis Baggett will be on display in the gallery. These pictures depict the Gospel stories of the birth of Jesus from Matthew, Mark and Luke. The fourteen pastel paintings begin with Zechariah and end with the return of Jesus and his parents to Nazareth after the death of Herod. Accompanying each painting is the scripture passage, a meditation and prayer. Suzy Baggett prays “that these paintings might draw one to ponder, to reflect, to take a few minutes in the midst of our frenzied lives to experience yet again God’s amazing love for us. May we take time to wait with expectant, joyful hope.”
Suzy Baggett retired from full-time teaching at St. Nicholas School, Chattanooga, TN in 2004. It was then that she pursued her interest in art and particularly pastel painting. She lives with her husband in Ooltewah, TN.
Curtis Baggett is a licensed lay preacher in the Episcopal Church and writer/compiler of the meditations that accompany the paintings.
