Summer in the Gallery

This summer Scarritt Bennett Center is featuring two art exhibits in the Laskey Gallery. The first is “Five by Five”, with five artists with varying styles sharing their images of the world.

Nancy Bailey’s nature paintings create a combination of incredible detail and wonderful color.
The use of graphic contours and dramatic color relationship are defining attributes Jack Isenhour uses on repurposed materials to suggest allegorical commentary in his engaging images.

Bharati Kakkad has a long history of creating beautiful compositions emphasizing thoughtful choices with fine detail depicting many of the places she has traveled to throughout the world.

Mary Meyer’s paintings are defined by a personal perspective that is made substantial by her use of expressive and sophisticated brush strokes and paint applications.

The paintings of Nancy Nace focus on heightened color relationships and textures that are dramatic…resulting in a broad admiration by viewers of her work.

“Five by Five” is on exhibit from July 7 through August 17, 2017. The artist reception was held July 13 and was very well attended.

The second exhbit of the summer is “Defined/Redefined” which features five women artists who have redefined their lives through the creative process and becoming an artist. This exhibit is scheduled for August 21 through September 29, 2017. The artist reception will be August 21 at 4:30-6:30 and open to the public.

Kristi Baker’s attractively dramatic and textural paintings combine both realism and expressionist attributes.

A sophisticated blend of naturalism and precision are defining features of Jo Griffith’s alluring drawings and paintings.

Landscape compositions that concentrate on the use of dramatic color, realism and texture are components that contribute to the engaging images of Saundra Holevas.

The paintings of Anita Rainey showcase her exploratory artistic nature that blends representation and abstraction into wonderful and unexpected results.

Jimmie Roberson has a history of creating beautifully described imagery that has both specific, allegorical and expressive characteristics.
