ROOM TO WRITE
A weekend away - just you and a pen.

DECEMBER 3-6, 2009
SCARRITT-BENNETT CENTER

The act of putting pen to paper encourages pause for thought, this in turn makes us think more deeply about life, which helps us regain our equilibrium. - NORBET PLATT

Maybe you’ve attended the workshops, taken the classes, read all the how-to books, and still haven’t gotten started on that book burning inside of you. Or maybe you’ve gotten started on the book, and now you’re stuck. Or maybe you have your manuscript done, but you just aren’t sure it’s ready – whatever that is.
Or you think it’s ready but you don’t know what to do next. The 2nd annual Room to Write is for you.

Scarritt-Bennett and One River invite you to spend a weekend on campus just writing what you want to write. No classes, no workshops, no pressure... well, maybe a little pressure. The aim of Room to Write is to provide you with three days of uninterrupted writing time.

Sure we have daily meditation if you would like it. And you can join us for our informal reading time. You can even sign up to work one-on-one with our professional book doctor. But you don’t have to do any of this. You can just lock yourself in your room and write, coming out just to share a meal and maybe a few
moments of fresh air and friendly faces.
