Position Title: Director of The Women’s Table at Scarritt-Bennett Center, Nashville, TN

The Scarritt-Bennett Center located in the heart of Nashville, TN is an educational conference and retreat Center. Created by visionaries within the United Methodist Church, the Center is responsible for living out its mission which is the “eradication of racism, empowerment of women, and education of laity in social justice issues.”
The Center is now hiring a Director of the new Women’s Table Initiative to fulfill its mission of empowering women. Giving voice to women, respecting and valuing the special gifts that women bring to any setting and validating all women to create change in their communities and the world, will be major components of this position and initiative.
The ideal candidate would carry characteristics of being inclusive in how program planning is approached, have a basic understanding of how a woman’s faith interconnects with her values & world view, be a natural relationship-builder,
have a global-view of the issues affecting women, and be able to authentically connect with diverse women in a variety of settings. Specifically, the Director will be responsible for creating, implementing and managing a wide-range of programs within the context of The Women’s Table’s purpose. Responsibilities will include daily management of all aspects related to the successful implementation of major program initiatives.
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not a requirement. However, it is crucial that candidates have extensive years of experience and a proven track-record of working in communities and with organizations that have created significant social justice change for women.
Skills Needed:
• Ability to design and implement new programs on a local, national and global level of issues affecting women to provide for educational, transformational, and social justice change.
• Ability to manage all aspects of programming with minimum supervision.
• Proficiency in budget development and management.
• Ability to work collaboratively among diverse, interfaith and other groups.
• Ability to develop partnerships and key relationships within local, national and global communities.
• Good decision-making and discernment skills in alignment with the Center’s mission.
• Excellent ability to strategize, organize, & prioritize for best program results.
• Excellent written and oral skills.
This position will report to the Vice President of Educational Enrichment Programs and Community Relations. It is a full-time, exempt position with a generous benefit’s package which includes health, vision, pension, and paid vacations. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be in alignment with the center’s salary range. Some travel will be required in this position. The successful candidate must be willing to locate in the Nashville area.
