WORKSHOP:
“U.S. History My Teacher Never Told Me About
Saturday, Feb. 6

Scarritt-Bennett Center, in partnership with Fisk University’s 88.1 FM WFSK radio show “Mind on the Matter,” will present two programs open to the Middle Tennessee community featuring nationally-renowned sociologist, author, and Pulitzer Prize nominee, Dr. Joe Feagin. Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University, Dr. Feagin is an expert in the field of U.S. race relations, and has written dozens of major books on the subjects of racism, sexism, and classism. These programs are a project of the Harambee Institute at Scarritt-Bennett, an initiative that seeks to encourage the “unlearning” of racism.

PRESENTATION: “White Men on Race” – Friday, Feb. 5

Dr. Feagin will discuss some of the latest, most groundbreaking research that refutes the common myth that we live in a “post-racial” society.
