An
International Festival

Celebration
of Cultures
Come
be a part of the ninth annual Celebration of Cultures on Friday,
July 9, and Saturday, July 10, at Scarritt-Bennett Center!
Representatives from more than 50 cultures will take over
the grounds of Scarritt-Bennett Center for this international
festival featuring food, art and fun from around the world.
Celebration of Cultures is a 'Party with a Purpose' showcasing
the growing diversity of Middle Tennessee. This year's event
will include 6 performance stages of music and dance; everything
from Cajun bands to storytellers to African drums to belly
dancing! Other attractions will include an international
food court and the international market where various organizations
will be selling ethnic art, crafts and wearables as well as
providing information about their culture or country. A special
area for children's activities will give kids of all ages
the opportunity to enjoy international games, crafts and many
other hands-on activities.

the beauty of the tango and giving lessons to willing partners.
Their booth will be open all day. Contact: Diana Holland-889-3390
Baltimbo
Drummers of Burundi- The only word for these Burundi drummers
is electrifying. They will be performing in the Cultural
Discovery Zone, opening up the festivities in that area right
after the grand opening of the festival on the Garden Stage.
They will also be sharing the legend and secrets of their
drumming, how these beautiful drums are made and something
about Burundi culture. Come and try out your own drumming
skills with the drummers of Burundi. Their booth will be open
all day. Contact: Antoine-367-4671
Chinese
Arts Alliance of Nashville (CAAN). -You may have seen their
wonderful dancers in their performance of the Monkey King
in January. (2004 is the Year of the Monkey). Activities in

(Tse-ling), and the Old Man Tea Ceremony. Come and find out

The
SBC booth features Live Music in America, with vocalist, Carissia
