James Collins has had multiple careers in the Arts, Business and Music. As a published writer since 16, he was an Artist-In-Education for 6 years for Tampa, FL and St. Petersburg, FL Art Councils, teaching poetry and creative writing in both school systems, been published in various magazines but has been too busy to continue that pursuit, opting for publishing three books of Poetry. Poems from the Wild River of Life, My Piece of Sky, and Spirit of a Man, all available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble etc. He taught acting classes at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Fl and became the Cultural Arts Specialist for the City Of Largo, FL writing, directing and producing plays. The Pinellas Academy of Performing Arts was born from this and continued for 3 years. As a musician in more almost famous bands then anyone, he attended Florida State School Of MUsic for 4 years but tired of 16th Century Classical Guitar, and switched to a Mass Communications degree in TV Production. He has multiple videos on YouTube. He also directed plays in Florida and Southern California, and had some close calls with screenwriting success during his 3 years out there. In Nashville, he’s had a couple of songs on hold, and held many poetry readings here at Scarritt-Bennett and elsewhere. He has also taught classes At Scarritt- Bennet in improving the art of reading poetry. He has also been a builder in 3 states, worked in Adverting in Tampa with writing, producing and directing national TV & radio commercials.
